Our Pets

Last year, our pet was a beautiful garden spider that had a huge web on the side of our house. We would go out every day and say 'hi' to it until it got to cool and it died. It feed and cleaned up after itself.

This year we had a pair of killdeer birds that made a nest in some gravel in our backyard. They laid four speckled eggs. Every time we got close to the nest, the parent would jump off the eggs and pretend to have a broken wing so that we would follow it and leave the eggs alone. It took about a month for the eggs to hack. Only two of the eggs hatched. The baby's can run around shortly after hacking. The parents quickly moved their two baby's to a close by cow pasture were there are more bugs and fewer people. Breanna had fun watching the baby birds. We hope they will nest with us next year too.

Chicken Enchilada Chili

This is a good receipt that Norm's brother gave us. You can make it in a crock pot or on the stove.

1 1/4 pound boneless, skinless chicken thights(I used trukey, it was good too)
1 medium onion, chopped (1/2 cup)
1 medium yellow or green bell pepper, chopped (1 cup)
2 cans (14.5 ounces each) stewed tomatoes with garlic and onion, undrained (I like diced tomatoes, they are smaller)
2 cans(15 to 16 ounces each)chili beans in sauce,undrained
1 can(10 ounces)enchilada sauce
1/3 cup sour cream
2 tablespoons chopped fresh cilantro (I left this out)

1. Srapy 4 to 5 quart slow cooker with cooking spray. Mix all ingredients except sour cream and cilantro in cooker.
2. Cover and cook on Low heat setting 7 to 8 hours.
3. Stir mixture to break up chicken. Top each serving with sour cream and cilantro.

6 servings (1 2/3 cups each), 38g Carbohydrates

Garden

This is a pitcure of Breanna from Memorial Day. Thanks to Aaron, we figured out how to take a clip from a video and save it as a snapsot pitcure.


We eat our first cantaloupe out of our garden Saturday. It was very juice and good, but very small. We have three more cantaloupe that are coming on. We have also grown a lot of peppers. He have picked about 20 and have that many more that are growing on two plants. We are cutting them and freezing them for later. Our pumpkins are dead, we think something is eating the roots. However, the corn is growing well. We also planted a variety of Sunflowers, just for the fun of it. We have some yellow and brown ones that have flowered, several others are getting close, including some mammoth one.



It has been fun watching our garden grow and eating what we have grown.

Pitcures of Breanna

This is our first attempted at posting to a blog. I hope it works. These are pictures of Breanna that we had taken last week. She was 8 months old on July 11th. She has her two front bottom teeth and she is getting more. She can sit up by herself and stand a little. She can crawl on her belly anywhere she wants to go, Grandma calls it her commando crawl. Breanna is a very happy baby and we love her. (She does not like it when mom is on the computer, it is too boring. She opens up every drawer on the computer desk that she can reach and starts pulling things out.)
